Using AI to Create Print-Ready Artwork | Free Prompts for ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Adobe Firefly

We've been receiving a lot of AI generated artwork and the vast majority of the time these files are low resolution and inadequate for printing. Here at Copycave Printing, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to submit great-looking, press-ready AI generated files. AI image generation tools (like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Adobe Firefly, and others) have become surprisingly capable at producing flyer and marketing designs — and with the right prompt, you can get results that are very close to print-ready, and we'll take care of the rest.

This guide explains what makes a file "print-ready," and provides copy-paste prompt templates for every common print size we offer, calibrated for 600 DPI at full bleed dimensions.

What Is Bleed — and Why Does It Matter?

When a printed piece is trimmed after printing, the cutting blade can shift very slightly. Bleed is the extra artwork that extends beyond the trim edge to ensure there are no white unprinted borders if the cut lands even slightly off. The prompts below should help produce a file with the required 0.065" of bleed on every edge.

Three Zones to Know

Bleed area:   Extra 0.065" beyond the trim edge — background/colors must extend here
Trim line:   Where the paper will actually be cut — your finished size
Safe zone:   At least 130px (0.217") inside the trim — keep all important text and logos here

⚠️ Important: When using AI tools, never ask for crop marks, trim lines, cut lines, registration marks, or bleed guides to appear in the image itself. These are for prepress reference only — if they're baked into the artwork, they will print.

Tips for Best AI Prompt Results

Always specify the exact pixel dimensions — AI tools respond well to precise numbers
Describe the three zones explicitly in your prompt (bleed extends to edges, safe zone keeps content inward)
Mention NO crop marks / NO trim lines — be explicit every time
Specify RGB colour (AI outputs are RGB; Copycave's RIP will handle CMYK conversion)

3.5x2" - Create a print-ready business card design using your AI chat bot

Create a landscape-orientation print-ready graphic at exactly 2178 × 1278 pixels (3.5" × 2" final trim size at 600 DPI, including 0.065" bleed on all four edges). The safe zone for all critical content is the inner 1918 × 1018 pixels — keep all text, logos, and important elements at least 130 pixels from every edge. Background colors, textures, and images must extend fully and cleanly to all outer pixel edges. Do NOT include any crop marks, trim lines, cut lines, bleed guides, registration marks, corner indicators, or any printing template overlays — clean artwork only, edge to edge.
